Woke up at 8:30 this morning and read yesterday's LJ and DW entries. Then I had a chat with Frankie, Sarah, and Kali. That lasted until 1 when I went to golf. We had a different instructor today, and he paid some attention to me, although he still paid more attention to Lisa, even when it was just me and Lisa left (everyone better than us went to play a couple holes of golf, and the classroom dunces stayed behind on the driving range to practice). It was hot out. One of the hottest days of the year. Too hot to be September. It's only 4 days to fall. I demand hoodie weather. But instead it was 87F out. Bill and Kevin, the BlazeSports people, made sure everyone drank lots of water. I moved on to using the driver today, but still only hit the ball 25 yards or so. Although, it's hard to tell how far it went because there are no markers on this range. I have to say I prefer the range near my father's house, because it has markers to show how far you hit the ball. I'm assuming 25 yards because it was the same distance I managed with the sand wedge and that was measured at 25 yards at the range near my father's. Kevin said if I want the ball to go farther, I have to move faster, but when I try moving faster, I miss the ball altogether. At any rate, I'm beginning to doubt I'll ever be ready to go out and play golf. I am particularly downcast at being one of the two dunces left at the end of today's practice.

After practice, I went to meet Adie for bat mitzvah tutoring. She had printed out my Torah portion, and I read it through several times. Then we talked about different ways of learning the singing part - I can either try to learn it from her singing it, or through learning the cantillation marks. I think I'll probably try to learn from her singing because I remember songs I haven't heard in decades. I don't remember things I learned to read, like Cyrillic. We're not meeting next week because it's between the High Holy Days, so I have two weeks to learn to read my portion. Next week golf is going to be in Stone Mountain with some famous football player who is going to help teach us, and then take us out to dinner.

Came home and the trash people still hadn't come. I filled another bag of trash, and brought it up to the curb. Fed the dogs, and now I'm not sure what I'm going to do with myself.

Sorry I didn't write yesterday. I slept literally until 5:45, woke up, went on a walk with Donna, came home, ate dinner, and was back in bed by 8:30 and just woke up. Although I did wake up for a little bit around midnight, I fell back asleep within an hour. So apparently I needed sleep.

Just a quick update!

Right now I'm on allegra d, anti-nausea medicine (that I've not been taking very much ohohoho), cough medicine, and I'm developing some kind of ear infection or something (the inside of my ear canal is swollen??? And the lymph node just behind my ear is also swollen, suggesting I'm fighting an infection, although that could just be from all the other sickness I've been dealing with) so yeah, physically I'm doing great haha.

Edit: And then I woke up this morning feeling 100x worse than what I felt like last night, ha ha ha wonderful.

Tonight is my first Spanish test and I'm 100% going to fail and you know, I've come to terms with it. I never do well on the first test of a class anyway. But this class gives me so much anxiety lmao it's ridiculous.

I'm just really unhappy now? And wondering if I can just drop all my classes but Spanish, since it's the only thing I need; all the rest were taken because they sounded interesting but I neither need them or nor their credits. I wonder what that would do for my financial aid. I guess I should check that out.

Edit x2: I did it. I got in touch with my advisor, the financial aid department, and my professors about withdrawing from elective classes. I've made the decision and I'm going to do it.

Exit Light (77427 words) by Dragonflies_and_Katydids
Chapters: 22/22
Fandom: Dragon Age - All Media Types, Dragon Age: Inquisition
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Relationships: Iron Bull/Cullen Rutherford, Dorian Pavus/Cullen Rutherford, Iron Bull/Dorian Pavus/Cullen Rutherford, Iron Bull/Dorian Pavus
Characters: Cullen Rutherford, Iron Bull, Dorian Pavus, Cassandra Pentaghast, Cremisius "Krem" Aclassi, various OCs, Cole (Dragon Age)
Additional Tags: Angst, Addiction, Depression, Suicidal Thoughts, D/s, Threesome - M/M/M, Dominance & Submission, Mildly Dubious Consent, Suicide Attempt, POV Cullen Rutherford, Alcohol Abuse/Alcoholism, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder - PTSD
Series: Part 1 of Dawn
Summary: Cullen struggles with his lyrium addiction. Some days are better than others. Or (if you prefer a silly summary for a not-so-silly fic): In which Cullen is suicidally depressed, Dorian is a high-functioning alcoholic, and Bull just wants them both to be happy, except when he wants to crack their heads together for being emotionally stunted idiots. Spoilers galore, particularly for Cullen's, Dorian's, and Bull's personal quests.

Why I loved this: Oh man if you want a heartbreaking, yet amazingly perfect and ultimately hopeful Cullen-has-trauma-can't-deal-but-gets-there-with-Bull-and-Dorian fic this is for you. I feel like this is a story that understands depression (pay attention to the tags, this is not a fluffy fic). Cullen's head is not a nice place and the focus of the story is him and his ultimate survival through a really dark period that begins when he quits lyrium. Starting a relationship with Iron Bull is the beginning, and it enfolds Dorian, who's a mess of issues, and I just really love how this story evolved and they all get through it.

Much of the same ol' same ol'

Life has been doing it’s usual puttering along at it’s zoomie speed. Daily routines and everyday usuals have been the norm for a while.

I find that when days vastly resembled each other I forget to come here and write. To be fair, during the same ol’ same ol’ weeks it probably would seem like someone just went wacky and hit the re-post button over and over if I did. No one wants that.

So I will attempt to catch you all up in my daily ho-hums in this post….

Let’s see (I’ll just skip past the usual household chore rambles for this, shall I):

  • Oh! I can’t recall if I mentioned in older posts or not, but my car is totally paid off now (as of July 14th). So no more monthly car payments for us. Aaron’s car was paid off the year prior, so…  now we just need to figure out the best way to smush the mortgage with out lots of penalties …. smush smush
  • Aaron’s mom was supposed to be over for a two week visit at the beginning of September because she had time scheduled off at work, but caught a nasty flu and couldn’t make it. And so she’ll be over mid October for a weeks visit instead.
  • So far the deer are staying out of the fenced area I made. So I actually have a few tall Canna plants growing in there right now, as well as gladiolus and mini roses!! In a last ditch effort to get ‘something’ to grow a while back (when the fence bits first went up) I had scattered some left over tomato and pepper seeds any where/every where. One pepper seed seems to have germinated next to the big Canna, and has flowers on it. I am staggered. That, to me, is amazingly cool.
  • I seem to have killed off my poor iceland poppy plant. But I think the seeds from it have sprouted in a few spots, so maybe all is not lost?
  • This year has been pretty smokey and miserable outside due to all of the fires around the US and here, and so for once I can honestly say I am looking forward to the rainy days of Fall.

  • Inside the house I have been continuing the downsize of useless clutter.
  • It’s going well, although I’ve pretty much given up on the donation place I used to use. They have been a no-show at least four times (Probably more than that, but I am feeling generous). And so now I just post things to the local FB group when I want to get rid of it. More of a hassle, as things take several days (or more) to be gone, and not everyone who says they will show up does. But hey, it get’s the stuff gone sooner than that donation truck, so at this point I’ll take it.
  • We upgraded the TV in the bedroom to a 55″ one.  I’m the only one that really watches TV in the house, so no beaking about how TV’s shouldn’t be in the bedroom because blah blah blah please. Aaron’s not a big TV watching person, period.  We generally don’t watch TV when we are hanging out together, unless we have decided to watch a film, and so there is no intimacy issue there. =P
  • The old TV from our bedroom has been moved to the guestroom now, and the old guestroom TV will be donated some time soon.
  • I’ve also been rearranging most of the rooms in the house. Aaron’s office and the exercise room still need a bit of a reorganize. But the rabbits live down there with him, and we don’t want to really change their space just yet. So that will be left alone for the time being.
  • I’ve been taking various barely used shelves and stands, ones where the sole use seemed to be as a clutter catcher, and tried to find them a more useful spot in the house. If I couldn’t find a spot where they were more than a clutter catcher, then I posted them on the FB group to get rid of.  I also went through the damn clutter piles and got rid of what was just a waste of space.
  • I got a few small profile comfy chairs for the downstairs front room, moved around a couple of the larger comfy chairs so that there is seating in Aaron’s office, and one more place to sit in the upstairs livingroom now. It’s funny, we had lots of shelves/bookcases scattered about the house .. but very few places to actually sit and read. I don’t know what that was about, but it’s been remedied now.
  • I downsized my nail polish collection, and made some local ladies on FB very happy in the process. My collection is now half the size, which is still quite massive. I also went through all of the makeup and passed most of those on to them as well.
  • I’m winding down a bit more on the whole go crazy and decorate everything outside on holidays thing, too. We’re at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, most of the neighbors before us don’t decorate, and so decorating to the nines is just too much for too few views. Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’ll still do it. The people across the street do enjoy it. But I won’t be going as crazy as I would have if we still lived on a busier road.  I will be going through the boxes of that stuff and getting rid of what ever has not been used in years of holidays (I’m looking at you ‘skinnier me’ halloween costumes.. time to go bye bye.)

  • Bongo kitty is still reacting well to the pills that keep him alive. One and a half pills every day. So he may see another couple years through with us. Knock wood. He’s more of a cuddle bug these days. He will play with his toys for a bit, but it wears him out pretty fast, and so he doesn’t bother most times. As the weather changes his joints get a bit more creaky, and so there are some failed jump attempts here and there. We just lift him up to whatever chair he was trying for, and he happily nestles down for a nap.
  • Our lop rabbits have become slobs of sorts. And so they keep us on their toes more than a few times daily as they potty wherever they please and proceed to lay in it if we are not quick enough to catch it. Bunny baths are becoming a regular thing. Cocoa Banana is still a sweet gentleman dwarf bunny, and we have no such troubles with him.

  • Since moving here we’ve gotten at least six new families moving into the neighborhood. So far we’ve been lucky and they’ve been pretty nice people (even the bear ignorant ones are nice, they just are not used to living near wildlife yet is all). Just recently a house a few doors down just sold, but we have no idea who has purchased it yet. Fingers crossed it’s more good people.
  • Oh, The people who purchased the empty lot beside us have been visiting there and spending the day there every now and again. Trying to get a feel for the space as they plan their new home setup, I assume. They recently brought their camp trailer and set it up, and so we’re getting a mini preview of what it’ll be like with neighbors there. Still have lots of deer that go through there, even when the new neighbors are hanging out, and so at least for now that isn’t changing.

I can’t think of anything else at the moment to add, and so I best post this. I can always continue on page 2, as it were, if I think of more.

I found some vodka and peach schnapps last night and asked Kevin to mix it for me because he usually makes it perfect for getting drunk and not getting too drunk or sick. It's usually 1/4th vodka and 3/4ths peach schnapps. Last night he mixed it the opposite and didn't warn me. I got very sick. But I woke up hangover free. I woke up a couple of times, once dying of thirst, so I got some water and went back to bed. Then I got up and got online but didn't stay up, then finally around 2 I got up for good.

I finally broke the wire for my computer, which had been threatening to break for months. I drove to the forum to replace it. It was expensive as shit to replace, but I mean if it's either replace this wire once a year or replace the whole computer once a year like I was doing when I had a PC (if I ever had one that lasted a year!) it's a no-brainer.

After that, we went to meet my parents at Lon U for my father's birthday. We had Thai food, which is really tasty but I think I'm allergic to (I think they add fish sauce to everything). We ate and Kevin told my parents about his new job.

Then I went to Temple for Selihot. First we went around the circle and introduced ourselves. Then we went around the circle and talked about a lesson we learned from our parents. I told the story I shared here recently about my friend in high school whose step-mother was arrested. There were a lot more people than expected there this year (about 30 compared to last year there were 2). I wound up talking to Lori and Rabbi Lebow for a while. We were talking about Star Trek and Lori told me that they're putting the show not on cable but on a pay network. So I guess I'm not going to watch it. I pay enough for cable and netflix. I don't need to be paying for anything else, especially just for one show.

I put on some music to get Avinu Malkeinu out of my head. I'm not sure it worked. I'll probably be humming that all night. :(

I woke up with a big dose of "don't wanna" today. Yves called and woke me up. I talked to him while he drove somewhere for work, and then got out of bed for about 15 minutes before I had to go.

I went to the aquarium today. First I was at otter, but the otters were off exhibit so I was just sitting there saying "nobody's home" - occasionally one of the otters would come on exhibit for a moment or two, including Cruz, giving himself a BJ and this lady was sitting next to me like "oh he's eating something, aw he's so cute" I was like "yup. That is exactly what is going on... lol"

I went from there to Aqua Lab with the sea stars. Literally no one came through. I might have seen 10 people the entire hour, and the half of it where the dolphin show was going on, I saw nobody. I even pulled out my own phone and started reading FB for a while. Nobody came through. It was kind of weird.

My final stop was OV Touch pool, which is no longer a touch pool, and instead just means sitting by the mermaid's purses and talking about those. It's not one of my favorite places to be anymore. After that they set me to rover, which I hate, so I just came home.

That's about it for the day. I thought about stopping at Tower and buying some alcohol, but I had already stopped at chick fil a, and I didn't want my food to get cold(er) while I went to get booze. I regret that now. :-/

So I'm planning on doing Inktober this October and I saw these really awesome prompt lists on facebook (source: dropthedrawing.tumblr.com) but I can't really decide which one I want to do. My mom and I have narrowed it down to these three. If any of you guys have a preference, definitely comment and let me know!
